First Official Item: Why It Had to Be "This Is Me - Special for IDAHOBIT 2022"

ree

The final contenders: "White Deer" Postcard, XXXX Volunteer Day Art, and This Is Me (2022 IDAHOBIT Video). Two hours in, I knew I was overthinking it.

You know, launching the website on Day 1 and the blog framework on Day 2 were easy. Choosing Item 1 for the archive just felt quiet monumental.

"White Deer" is a multi-layered creation—song, lyrics, and drawing, packaged as a postcard. It feels nostalgic, just a stamp away from home—a perfect Chinese choice.

But is it queer enough? Or is it too reserved to inspire?

The rainbow art craft is the opposite. It demands attention, just like the queer orgs back home—hidden yet undeniable. The fact that I couldn’t display it publicly makes it even more powerful.

Yet, something was still missing: hope.

Then came "This Is Me." It’s uplifting, packed with energy and faces I barely recognize anymore but still feel connected to.

In Chinese, “Queer” is “酷儿”, literally “cool kids.” Watching them in the video, you just want to join them.

And that’s what SilkPride is— a raoring batter cry from communities sharing this unique identity, loud and proud.

PS: 🐍 Year of the Snake, the perfect year for ssssssssilk. (Leo’s swing-and-miss joke.)
